1BPM

Performance, photography, 2024

A 24-HOUR PERFORMANCE

1bpm means 1 beat per minute, it's a tempo. That's the tempo Angie Boro set herself for 24 hours, one day in May 2024. From 6:02 a.m. on Sunday May 19 to 6:02 a.m. on Monday May 20, she photographed her daily life at the rate of one photo per minute.

A LIVING WORK OF ART

The result of this performance is 1,440 images that form the material for a living digital work of art. Every day at 6.02am, the screen comes to life, the first photograph appears, then at 6.03am the second photo, and so on until the surface is filled with each of the minutes photographed.

A TRIBUTE TO SLOWNESS

It's a day frozen in time, repeated ad infinitum and offered to the viewer. It's a work that lives at its own pace, and imposes that pace on the viewer. These minutes that Angie Boro has come to feel physically, the viewer can also perceive through the screen, if only he or she lingers.
