Description:
THE PERFORMANCE: AN INVERTED CATHARSIS
In a global context marked by rising violence, surveillance, and oppression, Where is the love? proposes a simple yet radical gesture: to bring a romantic encounter into public space as an act of poetic resistance. For five consecutive days, at the same time and in the same place, two lovers meet and stand facing one another. The scene, both ordinary and highly symbolic, is filmed by a surveillance camera installed for the occasion and broadcast live online.
This setup repurposes a tool of control into a sensitive witness, transforming the cold and distant gaze of surveillance into a space of attention, presence, and shared humanity.
LOVE IS EVERYWHERE
The first edition took place in 2024 in Paris’s 14th arrondissement. The discreet but regular intervention gradually sparked the curiosity of passersby, prompting conversations, questions, and spontaneous exchanges.
A second edition was held in November 2025 in Paris, in collaboration with choreographer and dancer Alexia Barré. The work is a finalist for the Arte Laguna Prize 2026, and the next edition will therefore be held in Venice.
